Dual Credit Academic Courses
We offer two dual-credit courses at the EACC, ENGL 111 College Writing and MATH 136 College Algebra. These courses provide a student the opportunity to earn 3 hours of tuition free college credit through Ivy Tech Community College. Credits earned can be transferred to any public college in Indiana and South West Michigan College. The classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays during the last 50 minutes of your program session for the entire school year. A student may only enroll in one academic course per year. It’s a great opportunity to meet academic requirements and earn college credits free of charge.
For ENGL 111, prerequisites are a passing score on the sentence skills (80) and reading (76) portions of the Accuplacer Exam. Test scores that can be used in place of the Accuplacer are: PSAT (writing 26, reading 25), SAT: (writing 27, reading 25), and ACT (writing 17, reading 18).
For MATH 136 prerequisites are completing Algebra II with a C+ or better and a score of (74) on the Accuplacer Elementary Algebra Exam. Test scores that can be used in place of the Accuplacer are: PSAT: (27); SAT: (550), and ACT (24). Students who have yet to earn a qualifying test score for either of these courses will be tested here at the Career Center. In order to be tested you must sign up for the Math or English course by August 29th. No exceptions.
