Riverview Elementary is a neighborhood school with more than half of its 385 students walking to school along tree-lined streets bordered with well-kept yards and homes. The school has high academic expectations and stresses positive discipline and personal responsibility of both students and staff. The staff at Riverview believes in using positive approaches to solving problems and conflicts and expects this from students as well. Teachers’ high expectations are matched by their equally high levels of concern, energy, and interest in students as individuals.
Riverview’s active PTO provides programs for students and staff and also volunteer time and energy for the good of the school. Riverview School enjoys the support of the community through local churches, businesses and organizations such as Lifeline. The school welcomes parents and community members as volunteers or mentors. The school building is used after hours by scouting organizations, Lifeline and various athletic groups.
Students are encouraged to aim high both academically and behaviorally; and to participate in the numerous extra-curricular activities, and home/school connections including Science Fair and Family Nights. Riverview students experience a personal approach to their learning and are eager to come to school where they are nurtured and supported.
