Kindergarten Registration 2018-03-13T09:47:54+00:00

Welcome to Elkhart Community Schools, Class of 2031!

Welcome to Elkhart Community Schools! We’re excited to meet you and welcome you to the ECS family!

All 14 elementary schools will be open on the evening of April 12 for incoming families to tour. At the Open House, students will have the opportunity to climb on a school bus, meet their teachers, and see their classrooms. Parents can complete registration, learn about before/after care, and meet PTO members. This is a great chance for children and parents to tour their school and meet school staff.

New this year: online registration (will be available April 9)!

If you would prefer to register in person, kindergarten registration packets are available at all fourteen elementary schools, starting April 9. When you have completed the packet, please bring it to the school, along with your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and your proof of residency/address. We encourage you to bring your incoming kindergarten student with you to familiarize him or her with the school building and staff.

Requirements for Entering Students

Here is a list of all required vaccinations. Your child must be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2018 to enroll in Elkhart Community Schools for the 2018-2019 school year. Children turning 5 after August 1 may apply for early entrance to kindergarten. If you are interested in early entrance, please contact your child’s school for more information. If you are unsure which school boundary you reside in, maps can be found here or our Student Services Department can help at 574-262-5540.

Kindergarten Readiness Summer Program

Students who register in advanced are eligible to attend our Kindergarten Readiness Summer Program, offered each summer before school starts. Here’s a look into our Kindergarten Readiness Program:

ECS Elementary Schools and Boundaries

Our fourteen elementary schools are warm, caring, friendly places that are safe for children, families, community and staff. Students in Elkhart learn the foundation of their education through our elementary schools, and begin career and interest exploration. Elementary students are introduced to athletics, band, and orchestra. Students are encouraged to participate in volunteer activities in the community. Our diverse and talented elementary school staff are dedicated to being lifetime learners themselves. As dedicated professionals, they are eager to try new strategies and activities to help students achieve.
