Memorial Chargers Girls Basketball

Coach’s Note

Coach Curry’s picture coming soon…

It is hard to believe that this year’s team will be the final Elkhart Memorial Girls Basketball Team.  This team is full of talent from various avenues and ages.  We have a relatively young team who I see growing and maturing as the season progresses and we are hoping to build on the foundation that we put in place last year..  Our seven returning lettermen from last year are great leaders who we hope will help guide our younger members and continue to grow our program.  As a second year varsity coach, I am surrounded by assistant coaches who possess a wide variety of knowledge and skill.  Four of the five coaches, including myself, are returning for another season and we have one new additions that will help us create a well rounded and diverse team.  The diverse skill set of the coaching staff ensures that each players talents are highlighted and supported while encouraging growth in weak areas.

As a team, our motto is to make a statement and leave it all on the court each time we play.  We are working to reinforce the strength and reputation of Elkhart Memorial Girls Basketball. Additionally, we believe in exemplary student athletes and expect our players to work hard in the classroom and on the court.

We want to thank all the fans and supporters of Elkhart Memorial Girls Basketball.  We are strong because you are behind us. We hope to see you at our games, cheering our girls on to victory!  I am excited to be a part of the final history of Elkhart Memorial Girls Basketball and am even more excited about what is to come.

Coach’s Bio

Coach Curry is a 1996 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School.  He holds a degree in Sports Marketing in Management through the University of Northwestern Ohio.  He worked for 5 years at Pierre Moran Middle School before transferring three years ago to School Without Walls as their registrar.   He has coached various sports including Little League Baseball to Junior Varsity Baseball at Concord and Elkhart Memorial. Additionally, he coached the 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team at Pierre Moran to the 2016 Big 11 Championship.  He spent one year as the head junior varsity coach for Elkhart Memorial Girls Basketball under Jeff Wallace. This is his second year as head coach for Lady Chargers Basketball.

Coach Curry works hard to ensure that foundational skills are met and that his players are well equipped for the pace of high school basketball games.  He works hard on mental toughness and basketball IQ to ensure that players have the foundation to play good, strong basketball. He believes that a solid player is one that is well rounded and able to understand the game in which they are playing.

Coach Curry is married and has five children.  Three of his children have graduated from high school (Elkhart Central High School, Concord High School and Wichita West High School), a current senior at Elkhart Memorial High School and a seventh grader at West Side Middle School.
