Memorial Chargers Wrestling

Coach’s Note

Charger Wrestling is coming off of a solid season from last year. Our team this year will be led by a good group of seniors including:   Kallie Canfield, Austyn Cole, James Goldsborough, Cameron Lightner and Ben Thomas. We have most of our varsity members returning to the mat with Semi-State qualifier Clayton Lundy and Regional qualifier Kamden Goering. We are looking to compete for the NLC and Sectional titles with help from our underclassmen this season. It will be difficult to accomplish all of these goals, but our strong work ethic will help us toward our goals.

With a tough schedule this season we will have to wrestle hard in the practice room and all of dual and tournament matches.  Our philosophy has always been that to be the best you have to compete with the best. We have a great group of athletes who have worked hard in the off-season by attending clinics, wrestling in club and national events.  Our athletes have even fit in time for community service. Our goal is to take one tournament at a time; do our best; and leave everything else on the mat.

We again have a great coaching staff  this season that will have a lot to offer our program as former Charger wrestlers as well as collegiate wrestlers. I am extremely excited about our team’s potential this season. We lost five starters from our line-up last season, so we have a ton of experienced and talented wrestlers coming back.  If we can come together as a team and embrace the grind of the high school wrestling season the sky is limit for us this year!

We are also excited about our involvement with the Elkhart Middle School Wrestling Programs.  We are adding Zack Corpe, former Charger wrestler, as our Technician Coach, and returning Head Coach Mat Toth along with Asst. Coaches Koby Lundy.
