Moving is a lot of things, but "easy" and "unimportant" are not usually included in the mix of adjectives. It's a significant time in the lives of adults and children. People who are helpful in such times typically are, or soon become, key figures in our lives.
As members of the community of Elkhart, we care. Elkhart Community Schools wants to be helpful, making your move as easy as possible.
Use this site to learn about who we are, and what we have to offer to you and your children. We invite you to call the people listed on our site and to visit our schools.
About ECS
Elkhart Community Schools is the largest public school district in Elkhart County. We employ a staff of nearly 2000 people to facilitate the education of more than 13,000 students. More than 1,600 community volunteers serve an essential role in making our schools a safe and caring learning environment for all students.
Elkhart Community Schools is committed to the continual pursuit of excellence for all students by inspiring the belief that learning is a lifelong process. To achieve this mission, the school corporation will not only support the schools, it will also involve the entire community in reaching these goals.
The city of Elkhart is located in North-Central Indiana within a comfortable driving distance of Chicago (1.5 hours), Indianapolis (3 hours), and Toledo (2 hours). ECS also enjoys a close proximity to several institutions of higher learning. The University of Notre Dame is less than 30 minutes away, as is the South Bend campus of Indiana University, Goshen College to the east, and a number of vocational and technical schools.
