Welcome to Elkhart Community Schools

Elkhart Community Schools is a district that serves more than 12,500 students, and is known for high-quality programs, quality teachers, supportive learning environments, and strong parental and community support.

Whether you were born in the area or you are looking to call Elkhart County your new home, we welcome the opportunity for you and your family to become part of our growing school family.

October is Bullying Prevention Month

Many ECS schools have special activities in October to promote peace and to educate students about bullying and bullying prevention, including peace walks, stomp out bullying rallies and pinwheels for peace.

Elkhart Community Schools is dedicated to creating a safe environment for learning, free of bullying. ECS uses the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program to teach students appropriate behaviors in school hallways, classrooms, playgrounds, lunch rooms and other areas that students gather. Our students are also taught appropriate ways to respond to a bully and how to help a classmate that is being bullied. These ideas are reinforced through posters, lessons, roleplaying and special presentations within each school.

ECS is one of the few districts to employ a full-time Bullying Prevention Coordinator - Mary Yoder Holsopple, and to have an anonymous reporting system in place - Sprigeo. To learn more about our Bullying Prevention Policies and how you can help, see our No Bully Zone page.
