Student Directory Information Available
Most information about students enrolled in the Elkhart Community School District cannot be made public without parent permission or the permission of students themselves who are at least 18 years old. Federal law prohibits schools from releasing information without permission. The exception is known as directory information.

The Elkhart Community Schools has defined directory information as: student’s name, address, telephone listing, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and the most recent previous educational agency or institution attended by the student.

Parents who do not want directory information released about their children must notify their school’s principal in writing.
