Pierre Moran Middle School

The PMMS School Counseling program follows the guidelines of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model which includes services around the domains of:

• Academic
• College/Career/Post-secondary
• Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

and includes direct services to students such as:

• classroom guidance
• small group support/counseling
• individual support & counseling

as well as indirect student services such as:

• Consultation with parents, school staff, and outside agencies
• Collaborative support
• Referrals to outside agencies

Students at Pierre Moran Middle School are focused on academic achievement and passing their goals.

While at Pierre Moran, students are required to complete two years of the following:

• Language Arts
• Math
• Science
• Social Studies

Students will have the choice of the following elective classes, depending on grade level:

• Band (7^th grade and 8^th grade)
• Choir (7^th grade and 8^th grade)
• Orchestra (7^th grade and 8^th grade)
• General Music (7^th grade)
• Art (7^th grade and 8^th grade)
• Health (7^th Grade)
• Physical Education (8th Grade) *
• Discovering College and Careers (7^th Grade)
• Exploring College and Careers (8^th Grade)

The vision of the school counseling program at Pierre Moran Middle School is that all students are prepared for postsecondary opportunities, career readiness, personal/social readiness and are able to reach their full potential while meeting their own personal goals.  With partnership and collaborative efforts with our stakeholders, all students have access to postsecondary opportunities, career readiness, personal/social readiness and meet their personal goals that reach their full potential.  Our students graduate high school and are persistent, respectful, show initiative, and are dependable and efficient individuals.  They are adults who have a sense of belonging, having developed their own talents, skills and mindsets to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.

The school counseling department at Pierre Moran Middle School will continuously inspire excellence by collecting and reviewing data to determine the appropriate placement of students in classes, small groups, and programs advocating for the success of all students.  Through the leadership of our program, every student will have equitable access to developmentally appropriate activities for individuals and groups. The school counseling department is committed to providing a high-quality, comprehensive, student-centered, and data-driven program to ensure the success of all students.  We support the achievement and success for all students by providing equitable access to highly effective support systems, the school counseling department's ongoing partnership within the community and collaboration with stakeholders ensures all students meet their academic, career, and social/emotional developmental needs.
